Angry Hippo Chases Speedboat Through Lake, Video goes viral

An online video of a hippopotamus pursuing a tourist speedboat through a lake has gone viral. The footage depicts tourists riding a speedboat when they notice a hippopotamus observing them from a few metres away. They were suddenly pursued by this massive creature. While the enormous creature pursued their boat by diving in and out of the water, the terrified tourists kept their composure.

The video was shared by the Twitter account "Hidden Tips" with the following caption: "Although exact statistics are difficult to obtain, urban legend claims that hippos kill more people annually than lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinoceroses combined. "Don't get close!"

According to the BBC, the hippopotamus is the most dangerous large land mammal in the world, killing approximately 500 people annually in Africa. Hippos are aggressive animals with extremely sharp teeth.

There are numerous hippos in sub-Saharan Africa. Due to the fact that they spend most of their time submerged to keep their skin cool and moist, they inhabit areas with abundant water. According to National Geographic, hippos are classified as amphibians and can spend up to 16 hours per day in water.
