PM Modi directly insulted me…: Rahul Gandhi on Gandhi-Nehru surname row

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "directly insulted" him in reference to the Gandhi-Nehru surname controversy, asking "Why is your name Gandhi and not Nehru." The senior Congressman also criticised PM Modi for his alleged associations with business magnate Gautam Adani, claiming that during his speech in Parliament, the Prime Minister's "hands were shaking while drinking water."

Gandhi stated that while portions of his address in Parliament were deleted, the Prime Minister's purported criticism of the Congress party was still recorded.

Gandhi brought up a number of issues relating to the Adani Group of Companies' Hindenburg report during his statement to Parliament. Gandhi asserted that he was requested to provide evidence in support of what he had said.

"Some of my remarks in front of Parliament were edited. No one was insulted by me. Gandhi said, "I was asked to provide evidence in support of what I said, and I have written a letter to the Lok Sabha speaker with every point they removed and the justification for it.

The country's prime minister insulted me directly, but his comments were left on the record. Why is your name Gandhi and not Nehru? he asked, the speaker continued.

He asserted, "Modi believes he is very powerful and will intimidate people. He is unaware of the fact that Narendra Modi is the absolute furthest thing from my mind.

During his speech in Parliament, the Congress leader asserted that the truth always comes out and urged listeners to focus on his and the Prime Minister's faces. The Congress leader claimed that the PM's hands were trembling as he drank water and that it was crucial for everyone in the nation to watch the Parliamentary proceedings, realise what is going on in the nation, and comprehend the "nexus between the PM and Mr. Adani."
